Cargolux flew off line 1491 (RC511) LX-VCK today. This is only the second delivery to an airline other than Lufthansa this year. They skipped line 1490 (RC510) LX-VCJ, which is still stored in the desert, but they aim to take at least one more this year.
This is only the second freighter delivery of 2014. Boeing keeps saying the freight market is coming back, but two freighter deliveries over seven months is not a good sign.

Regarding the cargo side of things, the numbers continue to look great for this year, however the airlines are probably a) being a bit cautious and b) taking up some of that growth with their current fleet to improve load factors and yields. I expect the latter half of the year to be much busier in terms of freighter deliveries.
As do I. I'm just a bit amazed at how slow the first half of the year has been. I expect all of the NCA frames to be delivered by years end, and probably the other two Cargolux frames. Silk Airways is up in the air. I'm expecting the Cathay frame to deliver this year too, even though they said it's for 2016.
DeleteMaybe time to stir the pot. Why not ask RR if they can hang Trent XWB's on the 748 and float the idea toward the end of the year? Would certainly give Airbus a run for the money, if they decide to do a A380NEO.
Deletemaybe get some GTFs on there from Pratt.
DeleteCool. Would be good to see Pratts on new 747's again.
DeleteBoeing has put together a PTQ video for LN 1499. I isn't on Boeing's New Airplane site yet, but it looks official and really well done.

what about a fed ex, dhl, ups, 8F order? any news?
ReplyDeleteNo real news from any of them yet. FedEx seems to be happy with smaller 767s. UPS has a fleet of young 744s, which they'll probably keep for another 10 years at least, although they do have a couple old BCFs that might be up for replacement.
