After a few test flights, tonight she moves into the paint hanger at KPAE.
I have a small hope she comes out dressed in "Lufthansa" livery and there's a happy ending after all.
But my gut says she'll be wearing "Extremely Long Term Desert Storage" livery of flat white.

No Lufthansa, that is sure - WiFi sat antenna hasn't been installed.
ReplyDeleteGood eye. I was going to say that usually gets installed after paint, but looking back at pictures of unpainted Lufty 748s, the dome has been installed before paint.
DeleteI'm just wondering why all the suspense and Drama, also if it is going to storage, there is no need to repaint it all. Just stick in in the desert with all the other untitled and and plain aircraft and nobody is the wiser.
ReplyDeleteThey had replaced some of the panels on the front, and those need painting for proper preservation. Also, the current paint job is over 4 years old now, so probably best just to give her a fresh coat before she starts baking in the sun.
DeleteAlso might be to remove the 'Lufthansa-esque' livery to an all white scheme, but still, fingers crossed.
DeleteIt's time for desert trip:
